Urologic Oncology Fellowship Director

               Dr. Umbreit is a recognized expert in open and robotic surgical management of testis, kidney and prostate cancer.  His practice marches down the line of complex open and robotic surgical care, based on the best approach for each individual patient. He is a high-volume surgeon with specific expertise in retroperitoneal lymphadenectomy, large kidney tumor resection, complex partial nephrectomy, multiple approaches to radical prostatectomy and inguinal lymphadenectomy.   

 In addition to his work in the clinical arena, Dr. Umbreit is passionate about GME training programs, clinical trials and oncologic outcomes research. He has developed and curated a unique and high-yield fellowship training program in urologic oncology at the University of Texas Health San Antonio, drawing on his years of military service and training in the Department of Defense. While he has a deep interest in basic science and translational research, most of his efforts have been directed toward clinical trial and oncologic outcomes projects.
